The Benefits of EMDR Therapy

EMDR therapy can help reduce the emotional distress associated with traumatic memories and difficult experiences. Past experiences can sometimes influence how you see yourself, respond to stressful situations, and connect with others. Through EMDR, we work toward processing these memories so they become less overwhelming and have less influence on your daily life. Treatment can also support you in developing healthier beliefs about yourself, improving emotional regulation, and moving forward with greater confidence. Together, we'll approach this process at a pace that respects your individual needs and readiness.

Personalized Care

EMDR therapy is tailored to your individual experiences, needs, and goals. We'll work together to develop a treatment plan that considers your readiness, comfort, and pace throughout the process.

Experienced Support

With EMDRIA-approved basic EMDR training and experience in trauma-informed care, I provide a supportive approach to processing difficult experiences while helping you develop the resources needed throughout treatment.

Compassionate Space

Processing difficult experiences can feel overwhelming. I provide a nonjudgmental environment where you can explore your experiences, build a sense of safety, and move through EMDR therapy at a pace that feels manageable.

Questions About EMDR Therapy

What is EMDR Therapy and how does it work?
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a structured therapy that helps people process distressing memories and experiences. It uses bilateral stimulation, such as guided eye movements or alternating tapping, while working with specific memories. Over time, these memories may become less distressing and have less influence on your daily life. For more information about EMDR therapy, visit the EMDR International Association (EMDRIA)

Yes! I offer EMDR therapy through secure telehealth sessions to adults throughout California. We can use approaches adapted for online sessions, including visual or auditory bilateral stimulation. We’ll discuss your needs and whether virtual EMDR is appropriate for you.
EMDR may be helpful if you’re experiencing trauma-related symptoms, distressing memories, or negative beliefs connected to past experiences. During our initial sessions, we’ll explore your concerns, treatment goals, and readiness to determine whether EMDR is an appropriate approach for you.
Your first session will focus on understanding your history, current concerns, and treatment goals. We won’t necessarily begin processing traumatic memories right away. EMDR includes preparation and developing coping resources to help you manage distress throughout treatment.
The length of EMDR treatment varies depending on your history, symptoms, and individual goals. Some people work on a specific experience over a shorter period, while others benefit from longer-term treatment. We’ll regularly review your progress and adjust treatment as needed.

No. EMDR does not require you to describe every detail of a traumatic experience out loud. We’ll work together to identify appropriate treatment targets, and you can communicate if you need to pause or slow down at any point.
